The Board of Trustees invites faculty to apply to serve on committees for the 2026–2027 year. Serving on a Board committee provides a unique opportunity to represent faculty perspectives and contribute to Board governance. The submission deadline is Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Up to four faculty will be appointed to serve one-year terms from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, on each of the committees below, either as a voting member or non-voting observer:
- Academic Affairs focuses on academic policy, including curriculum and faculty matters, and the conferral of honorary degrees.
- Buildings and Grounds focuses on facilities, the campus master plan, capital projects, real estate, security, and physical plant policy.
- Development and Communications focuses on strategic approaches in fundraising from individuals, corporations, foundations, government, and alumni, as well as communications and brand strategies that build institutional reputation.
- Digital Technologies* focuses on information technology systems, infrastructure, and emerging technologies that support academic research, graduate and undergraduate education, the professional careers of alumni, and institutional operations.
- Community and Culture focuses on strengthening community life at Pratt and fostering a welcoming, engaged environment across the Institute and its broader community.
- Student Affairs focuses on campus life policy, including all matters pertaining to student life.
*Subject to approval of membership expansion by the Board
Each committee is chaired by a trustee and includes trustees, faculty members, student government representatives, and administrative liaisons, who all contribute to committee discussions and decisions. Committee meetings are typically held twice per semester, with additional meetings as needed.
To Apply
Complete the application form, which requires a brief statement of interest and resume/CV. You must indicate at least three committees on which you would be interested in serving. As noted above, the submission deadline is Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Eligibility
Faculty at all levels are eligible to apply, except those who also hold staff appointments. Faculty who have previously served on a Board committee are welcome to reapply; please indicate prior service in your statement.
The Academic Senate will review all applications and submit recommendations to the Board’s Committee on Trusteeship. Committee assignments will be presented to the Board for ratification in May, with final appointments communicated at the end of the academic year.
We encourage faculty to consider this opportunity to contribute to the impactful work of our Board of Trustees. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Lewam Haile at lhaile30@pratt.edu or 718.636.3649.
