Dr. Schutte’s Legacy Talk available on Pratt Talks

Professor Audrey Schultz, Outreach Officer, interviews Dr. Thomas Schutte about his tenure at Pratt Institute after serving as its 11th president. Four segments of the interview are available in the Legacy Talks section of Pratt Talks, the video hub featuring high-profile speakers, creative student/faculty work, and engaging stories.
In Part 1, Dr. Schutte discusses his beginning years at the institute, his plans going in, and his inspirations, including the Sculpture Garden.
Part 2 examines Pratt’s move to open the Manhattan campus at 144 West 14th Street in 2001.
In Part 3, Dr. Schutte talks about restoring Higgins Hall after the fire and working with the landmarks commission.
In the Part 4, Dr. Schutte reflects on the Juliana Curran Terian Design Center Consolidation in 2007 and the themes of restoring exteriors and renewing interiors.
