The Academic Senate seeks nominations for
- Distinguished Teacher Award Committee Members
- Faculty Development Fund Committee Members
- Campus Safety Advisory Committee Members (faculty only), and an
- alternate for the Institute Diversity Steering Committee
Background on these positions is below. Senate constituents (faculty, chairs, assistant chairs, and staff who teach) are eligible to nominate within the specific eligibility rules described below.
All nominations are due to nominations@prattsenate.org by Friday, November 18 at 11:59pm. Please include names and, optionally, rationales for selection (max. 500 words) and any links to online information regarding each nominee (e.g., bio, CV, website). The Senate will elect these committee members and alternate from among the pools of nominees received.

Distinguished Teacher Award Committee Members
The Distinguished Teacher Award (DTA) recognizes exceptional dedication to Pratt’s mission and applauds the accomplishments made over the course of a career. The Distinguished Teacher is nominated by students and the Award is conferred by the Academic Senate, the Administration, and the Board of Trustees. The recipient usually addresses the student body at Honors Convocation, presents the mace at commencement ceremonies, and delivers a lecture for the Institute community. The DTA Committee is responsible for
- coordinating nominations by the student body and competition for the annual medal design,
- determining eligibility and criteria of excellence in teaching to guide review of candidates,
- recommending the Distinguished Teacher Award candidate(s) to the Senate, and
- periodically reviewing the effectiveness of its outreach and procedures.

The DTA Committee consists of seven to eleven voting members, including at least four Senate constituents each drawn from different schools, as well as the Library and, jointly, those departments not associated with a school. Committee members are responsible for attending meetings and participating in committee work. Members are elected to one-year terms, and part-time faculty receive a stipend of $600 in accordance with the Senate Compensation Policy and Standing Rules.

Faculty Development Fund Committee Members
The Faculty Development Fund (FDF) provides financial support for the development and advancement of Senate constituents. The FDF Committee reviews grant applications and makes recommendations to the Provost, who determines final awards. The FDF Committee is responsible for
- reviewing all complete applications submitted to the Office of the Provost;
- recommending for or against the funding of proposals, including recommending partial funding or revisions to budgets, to the Provost and reporting those recommendations to the Senate;
- recommending changes to criteria and procedures governing the Faculty Development Fund, in consultation with the Provost.

Campus Safety Advisory Committee Members
NYS law (Article 129A) requires colleges to establish a Campus Safety Advisory Committee. According to the law, college presidents are responsible for establishing a group that must consist of at least six members, with a 50% female membership. One-third of the committee is appointed from a list of students that contains at least twice the number to be appointed. One-third of the committee is appointed from a list of faculty that contains at least twice the number to be appointed.
The Committee is responsible for
- reviewing current campus security policies and procedures and making recommendations for their improvement, and
- providing an annual report by June 15 to the president and campus community regarding their findings.

Institute Diversity Steering Committee Alternate
The Institute Diversity Steering Committee is charged with:
- developing strategies for diversity and inclusion for areas of focus identified by senior leadership;
- identifying measurements to map progress toward attainment;
- determining the institutional capacity necessary to establish shared and sustained leadership including the organizational structure, areas of accountability, resources, and staffing levels within the context of other priorities at Pratt; and
- making recommendations for the strategic directions.
