Prof. Theo David named Distinguished Teacher 2013-14

Theoharis David, Pratt alumnus and professor of architecture, has been named Pratt Institute’s Distinguished Teacher for 2013-2014. The Distinguished Teacher Award recognizes exceptional dedication to Pratt’s mission and applauds the recipient’s career accomplishments. Students nominate the winner. The award is conferred by the Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the Academic Senate.
In addition to his teaching at Pratt, David is a visiting professor at the University of Cyprus and design principal of his own firm, Theo. David Architects TDA+KAL, located in both New York City and Nicosia, Cyprus. As design principal, he has been responsible for the design of sports stadiums, educational and medical facilities, religious structures, extensive residential complexes, private residences, and comprehensive master plans for major leisure and mixed-use developments internationally. His work as an architect and educator continues to be exhibited and published worldwide. He has lectured in major international cities and has been guest critic at leading Schools of architecture. He formerly chaired Pratt’s graduate architecture program and was faculty president of the School of Architecture.
Professor David was honored as part of the Pratt 124th Commencement Ceremonies that took place on May 14th at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
