Nominations open for Chief Diversity Officer search committee members through Sept 1, 2017

The Academic Senate seeks nominations for faculty and chair members of the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) search committee. Nominations are due to by Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:59pm.

About the position

The Chief Diversity Officer (working title) will lead the newly created Center for Diversity and Inclusion. The CDO will work with members of the Pratt community to develop a broad, collaborative vision for the role of diversity and inclusion in achieving institutional excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of building and supporting initiatives that promote diversity, equity, access and inclusion, and work with the Pratt community to develop a broad, collaborative vision for diversity and inclusion at the Institute.

Reporting to the President, the CDO will serve as a member of the senior staff of the Institute and as an integrating partner with campus leaders, students, faculty, staff, various Institute committees, and external constituencies to proactively develop and implement plans, programs, and activities that both educate and promote equity and inclusion as core values to be collectively practiced at the Institute.

The Institute has retained Witt/Kieffer for this search. The search committee will be co-chaired by Helen Matusow-Ayers, Vice-President for Student Affairs and Chair of the Diversity Steering Committee.


Faculty, chairs, assistant chairs, and equivalent positions are eligible to serve. All Senate constituents are eligible to nominate, and self-nominations are allowed. All nominations will be confirmed in writing.

Deadline & procedures

Nominations are due to by Friday, September 1, 2017 at 11:59pm. Please include nominations, a brief rationale for selection (max. 300 words), and links to relevant online information about each nominee (e.g., bio, CV, website).

The Senate Steering Committee will elect two faculty members and one chair on September 5, 2017 from among the pools of confirmed nominees.
